Why Blue Wolf?
The legend of the origins of the Mongolian people tells of a union in the heavens between a wild deer and a blue wolf whose progeny because the ancestors of Genghis khan or ( to use the Mongolian version) Chinggis Khan. His spirit animal was said to be the Blue Wolf and the spirit or totem of the Blue Wolf still calls to Mongolians and speaks to higher level of excellence, to the heart of exploration and conquest and to peace and reverence of Nature. Our goal is to live the spirit of Mongolia as we experience all that Mongolia has to offer as people have been doing here for millennia...on horseback. |
This epic 4,000 km. charity horseback expedition will raise funds to help Veloo Foundation, a 501 (c)3 not for profit in the US and Registered Canadian Charity, provide food, warmth and education for hundreds of Mongolian children who, along with their families, scavenge to survive .

120 Days Through Time and Across Space
You will start close to the Chinese Border and ride wild through the Gobi desert where the dinosaurs roamed...and you can still see their footprints preserved in the sands, you'll visit monasteries, energy centres, animal refuges and a whole myriad of other cultural, historical or natural sites. The route is being planned and scoped out with care and a focus not just on the famed historical and cultural sites that abound, but also on the lesser known markers of the history of human development that dot this wild land. Whether we are riding to ancient Deer Stones standing solid and alone in the midst of the steppe and harkening back to a time before the clans were united or visiting the hideout of a famed "Robin Hood" horse thief from the early 20th Century, we will be experiencing the fullness of the real Mongolia. It is going to be an adventure that nearly defies description!
You can expect desert nights draped with stars, remote and secret monasteries, famed prehistoric deer stones and burial sites and wild, high desolate wilderness refuges. Astonishing wildlife and wild life refuges and spending time in little known wildlife refuges. Canyons and sand dunes and miles and miles of grasslands and, of course, the famed Mongolian hospitality will be there for you all. In addition there will be time to ride away from the modern world and get in touch with the essence of your humanity AND the chance to know that you truly are riding in the footsteps of modern nomads, silk. road vendors and the ancient humans from whom we have all descended. This is what the Blue Wolf Totem Ride will be.
You will cover between 30 - 50 kilometres a day depending on what there is in the neighbourhood that merits investigation. We will ride on average 40 kms a day with TWO rest days after every 10 days of riding. Learning from our 2022 Expedition, with two rest days every 10 days there will be time to not only take care of laundry, catching up on your journal, connecting with family but also time to just truly rest, relax and enjoy the spectacular spots we have for our rest days.
Our horses are some of the best on the planet and both the horses and our whole team are well prepared for this epic adventure by years of being part of the Gobi Gallop, which, at 700 kms is the longest annual charity horseback ride on the planet and by the first Blue Wolf Totem Expedition back in 2022.
The horses welfare is very important to us and so we will be changing horses 3 or 4 times during the ride.

Mongolia looks something like this...
How much will all this cost anyway?
The price for the Blue Wolf Totem Expedition will be $28,000 USD PLUS a non refundable registration fee of $750.00 USD per person and a requirement to raise a minimum of $7,000 USD for Veloo Foundation.
This totals $35,750 USD for 4 months of adventure. The payment schedule will be given to you upon acceptance onto the adventure. Flexible payment terms are available.
PLEASE keep in mind that this is a CHARITY ride so the $28,000 of your entrance fee will cover trekking expenses and will support a number of herder families who work hard to train our horses in traditional Mongolian endurance techniques as well as local small businesses, artisans, craftsmen and the crew that will work the magic to get us all ALL the way around Mongolia.
The $7,000 USD which you will be required to raise will go directly to help the Veloo Foundation - Children of the Peak Sanctuary Project. Fundraising support will be provided.
ALL of the money you will pay / raise for this ride will stay in Mongolia and will benefit herders, children in serious need and handicapped people. Expeditionists will have the chance to visit the Children of the Peak Sanctuary Kindergarten www.veloofoundation.com and Community Library and meet the children and families they are helping in person.
