Every year the route will be different!

In 2026 we'll be crossing rivers,  heading over  towering mountains and along the famed Mongolian steppe as we head from our starting point out in the wilds and finishing at our home base outside of Ulaanbaatar ( Mongolia's Capital City) at Saraa's Ger Camp.

We'll be sharing the trail with the Gobi Gallopers and experiencing life on the road AND traditional Mongolian horsemanship at the same time.  A once in a lifetime opportunity!

We're proud to partner with the Veloo Foundation  and excited to expand their major annual fundraiser, the Gobi Gallop, to include intrepid adventurers looking  to help the children whose families make a living scavenging at the dump in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia by exploring this country  on a Royal Enfield Himalayan STEEL HORSE.

Indulge your adventurous spirit and come see what it's like to travel
1,400+ kms in only 10 days on the back of a motorbike!

Join this special ride and ALL of the money ( ride fee and charity portion) will stay in
Mongolia and make a difference in the lives of Mongolians!

Come for the ride of your life and  help us help the children & support the nomadic herder community!

The Steel Horse Gallop 2024...a wild adventure across the frontiers of Mongolia.

Take a moment to check out the short film below to see exactly what it is like to ride over 1400 km off road across Mongolia on a Royal Enfield Himalayan  AND get to share the local horse culture with a wild group of horsemen from around the world.

The inaugural year of the Steel Horse Gallop in 2023 was really a beta test of the concept...and wow!...what a result it was!

A short look at 2023's Steel Horse Gallop and our sister charity ride the Gobi Gallop !

In 2025 we will be setting off for over 1,400 kms of fabulous Mongolian wilderness - we will be partnering with our sister ride, the Gobi Gallop and camping out and sharing long, star draped evenings together discussing the variety of pros and cons of taking on this epic charity ride on Royal Enfield Himalayans OR on authentic Mongolian horses.

Together we WILL be raising money for and changing the lives of thousands of Mongolian children in serious need.

Even GQ was curious about what it was like to ride a royal enfield across Mongolia..and while we can't promise you'll make it into GQ if you join us, we can promise an adventure beyond imagination...and we will make our own short video of your adventure for you to share with your friends and family.

Click Here  for a great film about what GQ saw riding across Mongolia

And let's not forget the amazing
Gobi & Steel Horse Gala  & Charity Auction
which welcomes back the riders and raises even more money for Veloo Foundation's Children of the Peak Sanctuary / Narnii Huuhduud Project!

Some Scenes from the road

So.. what exactly is the
Steel Horse Gallop
really all about?

It's about heart.  And endurance. And sturdy, reliable Royal Enfield bikes, wonderful Mongolian experiences, unforgettable friendships, personal challenge AND one of the most beautiful, challenging and epic motor bike riding routes in the world.

It's also following the footsteps of our sister ride, the longest charity horseback ride on the planet and forging into the unknown territory of becoming the longest annual charity MOTORBIKE ride on the planet. 1,400 kilometres across Mongolia where participants will have the chance to experience some of the most stunning scenery on the planet. Every kilometre will help the Children of the Peak Sanctuary as a full fifty percent of each rider’s entrance fee goes directly to help the three to five year olds at this kindergarten, who would otherwise be scavenging on the garbage dump or left behind,  often alone in a ger (a traditional Mongolian nomadic felt tent) and sometimes without food or heat. The maximum number of riders for 2025 is 30 so get your application in SOON to secure your spot on the adventure.

We will be leaving from Ulaanbaatar on June 1st and returning to a glittering Gala Event and charity Auction  at one of the best hotels in Ulaanbaatar to welcome back the intrepid riders from BOTH the Gobi Gallop AND the Steel Horse Gallop on  the evening of June 14th.  Transport to and from Ulaanbaatar will be included in the final price of the ride.

This ride is truly one of a kind and of an intensity not often seen in adventure bike rides. You  simply can’t get this sort of opportunity anywhere else and , in addition to the amazing motorcycle experience, this ride will give participants a chance to experience one of the last surviving nomadic horse cultures As one of our previous adventure participants said,  "Hearing the guides and staff share and sing at night around the campfire brought the ancestral spirit of “Mongolia” alive for me. Riding the same route as historic warriors like Chinggis Khan did and  witnessing their traditional life in action was exhilarating."

The secret to success on this ride?  Just love time out in the wild on your bike,  and  have an adventurous spirit! A really adventurous spirit!  As you can imagine, 1,400 kilometres will take you across all sorts of terrain and you will be riding across  miles of desert landscape, across rivers, up and down steep slopes, through the woods and, of course, across miles of open steppe where sometimes you will have the joy of gopher, marmot and fox holes and, maybe even bog!! We work hard to make our route as safe as possible but weather is unpredictable and so riders need to be prepared for it all.

It is a ride that asks you to get up every morning to the serene quiet of  an unspoiled wilderness, enjoy a  freshly cooked breakfast, then, on your  motorbike, ride for approximately six to eight hours . At the end of each day, with your wonderful new friends, you gather together and relive the amazing sights and experiences of the day.

This adventure through wildest Mongolia  may be subject to unavoidable  and unpredictable changes. This may include changes to the route and / or the length of riding per day. While we try to keep the riding time  to about  6 hours / 140 kilometres a day, you may expect that there will be some LONG days depending on how thing eventuate. Such is the nature of this ride and this country.  However, expect to be well settled in camp each night in time to see the  spectacular dome of glittering stars which will decorate the night sky – Mongolian style and enjoy a lovely freshly cooked meal. The ride comes complete with car support, cook and crew to set up and take down your tent. If a rider is ill or fatigues, they are able (and encouraged!) to take a break in the vehicle. We also bring along Tom the Medic and have full medical support from SOS Medica International.

Due to the difficult nature of this ride it is imperative that riders carry insurance which will cover air lift out of Mongolia should serious injuries happen. We will be verifying insurance information prior to participants mounting up on their motorbikes.
